Business writing can be a tricky thing if you don’t prepare properly for it. I always make sure I spend enough time with my client’s to ensure I understand what message they are trying to convey and how they want their finished product to look.
Today, I focus mostly on blogs and websites for my business clients. Below is a list of some of my clients, past and present.
I have been writing their visitor guides, and updating websites for the Similkameen Valley, North Thompson Valley and Boundary Country for several years now. I love EQ writing and letting people know of all the great places to visit and fun things to do in these areas. What makes it even better is I have a great team that I work with to get the websites and visitor guides.
At first, it was an easy project, update the visitor guide. Then came the website. This was not an update… it was a massive overhaul. In the end I wrote over 300 pages for Tourism Vernon, and I continue to update the website and the visitor guide each year. The website was such a hit the year it was launched, it won gold from Marcom Awards. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom, there’s my name. So proud to have been part of this massive endeavour.
At present I am working on updating two sites that deal with purifying water: Pureworld Solutions and MSR Solutions. If they don’t look complete yet, it’s because they are both so darn busy that the finished product will take a while to be updated! I’m crossing my fingers for November 2018.
I wasn’t quite sure where to put this… it’s freelance but it’s a business, so here it is. I took over the reigns as editor for this great little magazine in March of 2018. Fortunately I have a great team of writers to work with that made the process almost painless.
Tinhorn recently updated their self-guided tour and needed someone to come out, take the tour, and then write information for the signage and the brochure. Walking around a winery and tasting wine was tough, but someone had to do it!
While it was a few years ago, you can still see my handiwork on the Accelerate Okanagan website. This was a complete overhaul and rewrite of the Accelerate Okanagan website. I met and liaised with the team at GoodSir as well as the team at Accelerate Okanagan to find the right voice, the right words and the right way to get the message across.
In order to write effectively on a topic where I would not be considered an expert, I spent hours researching to collect the information needed to create the educational articles and the newsletters for Motor Werke. Today, Motor Werke has their own in-house writer; however, the two years I spent researching and writing about fine European cars gave her a whole new appreciation for European engineering and the passion that comes with it.
Sandra Bradshaw – Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner
I have had the pleasure of working with Sandra Bradshaw for so many years now, we both forgot when we started working together. We did media releases, newsletters, periodical writing, case studies and created her fabulous website. Click here to see Sandra’s site. This was one of those projects where I was able to use my knowledge on most topics that relate to health, alternative medicine and cutting edge technology relating to health.Darcy and her team also write for TCM practitioners, chiropractors, naturopaths, acupuncturists, Reiki practitioners, Feldenkrais practitioners, energy workers, master herbalists, pharmacists, dentists and more.
This was at the start of my career as a writer, and wow, was it ever I dive into the deep end. Myself and another writers created biographies for over 100 women entrepreneurs. The education I got while doing this was priceless. From the initial workshops to the New Pioneers book, I absorbed every business lesson possible from these women. While I did the majority of the interviews, I had a great editor and proofreader working with me to make deadlines. This project was the break I needed that put Always Write on the radar of future clients. For that I am eternally grateful.
