Course Outline

Discover the ins and outs of traditional publishing and understand what happens in that process and why you may be better off to self-publish.

Learn where to look for a publisher (just in case). You’ll also learn about copyright, layout, writing apps, software options and what to include for your editor. Yes, you need a professional editor. You’ll also need the help of other people, volunteer or hired for beta reads, proofing etc., The irony of self-publishing is that you can’t do it alone. We’ll show you who to ask and what to ask for.

On the third day, you’ll learn how to treat your book as a business. Understand tax information, ISBN, CIP, budgeting, bar codes, selling online through Amazon and Kindle, and most importantly, learn how to price your book and market it to sell.

What to expect:

  • You will have three online classes (Saturday mornings) via zoom of 2.5 to 3 hours long.
  • Attendees will be emailed the course materials and instructions on where and how to log-in online before the course start date.
  • There is a chat space for questions, which the instructor monitor’s and answers. Live questions are more than welcome.
