Sometimes getting out to a class is too much after a long day or week. We offer online writing classes you can take in the comfort of your home. All classes are held on a Zoom platform with no more than 10 attendees per class. Below are our current classes and classes with no start date as of yet.

Self-Publishing:
What you need to know

Another course added to help you make your way through the sometimes intimidating world of self-publishing. This was offered at Camosun, but they had to cancel so I’m taking it back. Click here for full info.

Learn the basics and understand how the traditional publishing world works and learn how to navigate it, and the world of self-publishing.

Several past attendees have gone on to self-publish dozens of their own books, and have been successful at it. Check out the course page for more info.


Get Paid to Write

Writing is a passion for many of us; however, making money from that passion can be difficult. In times of a pandemic, it’s even harder!

We invite you to learn the reality of writing for a living. Discover how to get out there and get noticed. Explore ideas about freelance for magazines and websites; blogs and content; and of course, books. Learn some tips of trade, how to price your work and how to write a pitch letter. Hone your skills in class and with assignments.

It doesn’t matter what you write, there is a way to make money doing it.

Business Writing Basics

Communication is one of the most important aspects of a successful business. Come join us for two, 90 minute workshops on business writing basics. This online course/workshop is designed to help business people critically analyze and create stronger writing.

Writing for a specific audience, in a clear and concise manner, is fast becoming a lost art. People are in a hurry and they write quickly and forget some of the most important parts of message dissemination.

Write Picture Books for Children

Learn how to create stories for children aged 2 – 6. Picture books are a great way to tell a simple story and are often how children learn how to read. Discover how to create a viable plot and endearing characters that engage readers. You will learn the importance of dialogue, and saying more with less.

Edit Your Own Work

One of the hardest things you’ll ever do as a writer is edit your own work. This interactive, two hour workshop will take you step by step, sentence by sentence, as to how a line edit is done.

The Value Added Book TBA

Whether you are in real estate, a mortgage broker, financial advisor, business coach, professional speaker or any other type of professional who has a product/service to sell, this long winded sentence is my way of telling you: this course is for you!

Learn how to create short but sweet value added books that will have your clients choosing you and using your services for years to come. When they remember, they also pass along your name.

This two-part course shows you how to create a basic outline, what to include in your book, whether to charge or give away free, and where to get them printed.

Dates: June and July 2020
Time: evenings or a Saturday morning

Creative Writing Basics TBA

This six part series of workshops covers various types of creative writing and how they help build a writer’s skill. Each class builds upon the other.

Classes are once per week to give students time to complete their take home assignments. In-class assignments are done online for immediate feedback.

Students will learn flow, rhythm, dialogue, how to build tension and release it, character development, and more. This fun six week course will have you thinking about the different genres in new ways, and using what you’ve learned to create your own stories.

Dates: JUNE AND JULY 2020
Time: TBA – Usually evenings – could do on a Saturday morning.
Fee: $250
